Hey Friends,
Welcome to the 90th edition of my newsletter.
While the initial plan of this newsletter was to go through my goal-setting process and results for 2025, I had to make a change. Why did I make this change? Well, it's mostly because of a lack of time.
Look, writing this newsletter takes me somewhere between 2 and 4 hours, with the research and all. But I didn’t have this because I got hit by the flu, and I could not think about anything else but my sore throat until yesterday. And I know that my goal-setting newsletter is very complex, so it might take me even more than 4 hours.
That’s why I decided to talk about something else today, which is also related to one of my goals for 2025. And that is: being more authentic.
2024 was a good year for me online, especially on LinkedIn, where I gained around 3000 followers. But I realized one thing with what I posted there and also with some of my newsletter editions too.
I didn’t like what I was writing, and it was exhausting.
Let me explain.
I am not a marketing guy, and to be frank, I don’t even like this.
But I bought courses and got into communities talking about social media growth and so on.
And they all said the same things: follow what the big creators are doing, comment all day, and so on.
More details about it in this post:
So, during the winter holidays, I had some time to think it through, and I made a decision regarding writing online. Or a set of rules, let’s say.
And here they are—my 7 commandments for my online writing:
I will write primarily for tech people who want to evolve in their careers.
I will not follow the trends if I don’t resonate with them.
I will talk from experience and not about general stuff you can find everywhere.
I will try to share more stories, personal and from my career.
If I am passionate about something or I read something interesting, I will write about it, even if it’s not related to leadership, tech, or something my “ideal” audience wants. Some topics I will include: stoicism, decision-making, peak performance, writing, psychology, mental models, fitness, etc
My main angle will be on building “antifragile” leaders, people who thrive in uncertainty and welcome failure.
I will have fun and change what I don’t like.
As I said in my previous edition, I am not writing this email every week for money.
I am writing it for you, and I am writing it for me.
Because I enjoy writing. I always have.
And I truly hope you get some value from what I write.
This being said, I am “rebranding” this newsletter, again, to “The Antifragile Leader”.
Logo and other things will follow soon.
And if you’re thinking: this guy is changing the name of this newsletter every couple of months, you’re right.
But this is what evolution means to me: a continuous process.
If you get any value from this newsletter, let’s both become better.
Recommendations:
One of the funniest TV shows I’ve watched lately has a new season. “Alpha Males”, on Netflix.
Gadget I’m using: Logitech MX Mechanical Mini Keyboard. I love this small keyboard, and it’s perfect for my home office setup.
This wonderful piece of advice by Chris Anselmo on creating a “Highlight Reel”. What it is, a file with the great things in your life, moments you should be proud of, nice words from people, etc, something you can return to when you’re feeling down. I highly recommend having one.
Well, I hope you liked this edition.
