#39: My FREE email course on Career Acceleration is Live
Enroll in "Career Acceleration: Land a New Job in 7 Days"
Hey friends,
I have some good news: I finally finished the email course on “Career Acceleration: Land a New Job in 7 Days.”
It’s only available for the readers of this newsletter for now.
I will make it available for my online audience in the next few days, and I plan to turn it into a paid product at some point.
You can subscribe to the email sequence here.
1/ A few updates from my side
As I said in the introduction, the main focus of last week was finishing the email course.
After many iterations, I have concluded on the following email structure:
Lesson 1: Your Purpose and Strategy
Lesson 2: Craft Your Best CV
Lesson 3: Research and Make Initial Contact
Lesson 4: Customize Your CV and Write a Cover Letter
Lesson 5: Prepare for the Big Day
Lesson 6: Interview Day
Lesson 7: Follow-up
Creating the content of an online course is only half the work, generally.
There are so many things you need to set up, like a landing page, creating automation in your tool so that every email is sent after a specific number of days, connecting that automation to the landing page, and so on.
That’s why I’m very happy to have this done. I planned to have it ready by Christmas, and it was 95% ready. I didn’t launch it then because I had a small issue with the automation, and I also thought it was not the best time for people to look for a new job.
But now, at the beginning of the year, I think it’s the perfect time to reflect on where you are in your career and maybe make a change.
I am very curious to know what you think about the course. You can reply to me here or to any of the emails in the sequence.
There is also a feedback form at the end of the course.
Other than the course and work for my main job, I spent my free time going to the gym, catching up with friends, and collaborating on my accounting group homework. (I can’t wait to finish the MBA accounting module.).
The bright side is that I go on vacation tomorrow, and I hope to have some interesting photos and stories for next week. So stay tuned :)
2/ Reflections on a month of gratitude
As some of you know, I wrote a “gratitude journal” in December, being thankful every day for something in my life.
Several friends and followers wrote to me to tell me they appreciated the series. I also believe I benefited a lot from the practice.
Dedicating time each day to acknowledge and appreciate the various aspects of my life has been a transformative experience.
This practice has taught me to find joy and value in the simplest things, from the comfort of a warm cup of coffee to the profound impact of lifelong learning. I had previously overlooked these moments or taken them for granted.
One of the most significant realizations has been understanding the power of a grateful mindset. Acknowledging the good in our lives, even during challenging times, fosters positivity and resilience.
It shifts our focus from what we lack to what we have, from obstacles to opportunities.
I hope that sharing my gratitude has also encouraged others to reflect on their own sources of gratitude.
As I move forward, I carry with me the lessons of this month. Gratitude will continue to be a daily practice, a lens through which I view the world.
It’s a habit that I believe will cultivate lasting happiness and fulfillment, both personally and professionally.
To all who have followed and shared in this journey, thank you.
Your engagement and reflections have enriched my experience too.
And I challenge you to continue this practice. At the end of each day, think about one thing you are grateful for.
I have been doing this for a couple of years now, and I’m telling you, it can change how you see the world.
For reference, here are the 31 things I was grateful for in December:
Health
Memories
Books
Traveling
Music
Sleep
Technology
Financial Stability
Good food
Movies
Education
Nature’s beauty
Exercise and Fitness
Coffee
Laughter
Freedom of Speech
Poetry
My Readers
Access to Medical Care
Visual Arts
My Mentors
Public Safety
My Personal Growth
My Parents
The Holiday Season
Modern Comforts
My Resilience
My Wife
The Kindness of Strangers
My Friends
New Beginnings
3/ Recommendations: the “Future TED Talk prompt”
I recently saw this in Ali Abdaal’s Annual Planning Workshop, and I thought it was a great exercise for everyone.
So, the prompt is this:
🎤 The Future TED Talk Prompt: You’re attending the TED conference, and everyone in the audience (including you) is deeply moved and inspired by what the speaker is talking about.
The speaker is you, 20 years in the future.
What is “You + 20 Years” talking about, and what’s so inspiring about it?
I think it’s a very good reflection exercise. At least it was for me.
When we are in our twenties, we think we have enough time to figure it all out. As I am approaching forty, I feel like this time is now.
Depending on where you are in life, it makes sense to think about what you want to be remembered for and take action to become the person you want to be.
There is a line in one of Bukowski’s poems that goes like this:
“I was waiting for something extraordinary to happen
but as the years wasted on nothing ever did unless I caused it.”―Charles Bukowski
We wait too long for life to happen. We go with the tide.
Until we find out, it’s too late to pursue our dreams.
And I’m not talking about extraordinary stuff. We can’t all be Einsteins or Taylor Swifts, but we can be:
the dad that is home for dinner
the book lover who published his novel
the programmer who works at her dream company
So, what are you waiting for?
What will you tell others in your TED Talk?
Thank you for reading, and let me know if you liked something in particular in this newsletter.
Until next time,
Leo
